Walk Run Challenge raises vital funds for Acorns Childrens Hospice Trust

Staff at Bloor Homes’ Western regional headquarters in Tewkesbury raised over £740 in February for Acorns Children Hospice Trust by completing a company-wide Walk / Run Challenge, covering 1333 miles between them.

Not only did they complete the challenge to walk or run the distance between all nine of the Bloor Homes regional offices – a total of 624 miles - but they also more than doubled the distance.

Staff – whether taking part or supporting – were invited to donate £15 towards the charity which has provided invaluable support to Jason, a Senior Engineer for the region and his partner Charlie while their son Cove received palliative since his birth.

Cove spent the first month of his life in intensive care in the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, during which Jason and Charlie were approached by Acorns Children’s Hospice Trust who offered a helping hand and invited them to be part of their family.

Funds raised go towards the Trust’s specialist in-house teams of registered children’s nurses, healthcare assistants, physiotherapists, family practitioners and volunteers and delivers tailored care for children and vital support for their families.

The February Walk / Run Challenge follows the Western region’s Malvern Hills challenge in September 2023, which exceeded its £1,800 target, raising £2,600 for the Hospice.

Bloor Homes’ Western region will continue fundraising for Acorns Children’s Hospice this year and staff are looking forward to the next challenge.
