Design duo create latest master piece in Barnsley

Date:   06/05/2008
Region:   East Midlands

We have launched a new show apartment at Mill Court in Barnsley, but this has been a project with a difference.

The ‘Cadeby’ show apartment does not feature the traditional rectangular layout that dominates the majority of new build apartments. Instead, its bold design introduces new shapes and angles. What’s more, the quirky theme of the architecture is carried on into the interiors, for which we have appointed up and coming designers from its own team of sales advisors to introduce a fresh approach.

Marjorie Gregory said: “Our sales advisors, Caroline Spray and Liz Osbourne have designed two other show homes for Bloor Homes at our Coppice Rise development in Sheffield and they have gone down a storm.

“Caroline and Liz have a flair for design and a deep knowledge of what the local buyer is looking for in a property so they were the obvious choice of designers for this project. Professional interior designers have their place and we use them on many of our homes, but we really wanted to give the ladies a chance to show us what they could do. After all, they are the ones who talk to buyers and receive feedback from buyers on a daily basis.

“The results to date have been outstanding and this new Cadeby apartment is no exception. The unusual, striking shape of the apartment presented a real challenge, but we believe they have more than risen to the occasion. What we now want is the reactions and comments from purchasers, so we encourage all visitors on site to let us know their views.”

The Cadeby apartment is a contemporary home that caters for purchasers who want something a little different from an apartment. The unusual angles in its layout create a modern living space which encourages purchasers to experiment with interior design.

The Cadeby show home at Mill Court has been decorated in neutral colours on the walls and floors to enhance the sense of light and space in the property. Meanwhile, a range of contemporary art, furnishings, window treatments and light fittings add a touch of urban drama.

The feature fireplace is an unusual addition in a modern apartment which serves to create a sense of grandeur, while the large sumptuous sofa adds a little extravagance whilst showcasing the generous open plan living area.

Marjorie Gregory, sales director for our East Midlands Region, said: “The key thing about the show apartment is that it demonstrates the possibilities of the Cadeby as a practical but fun living space. The design will undoubtedly be a talking point among purchasers as they begin to imagine how they would respond, given the same blank canvas, to introduce their own individual touch.”

All apartments at Mill Court are fitted with a high interior specification. All master bedrooms have en suite facilities, kitchens come with integrated appliances including fridge and dishwasher, oven gas hob and waste disposal unit. All apartments also have an allocated car parking space.

Mill Court is a development of 42 three and four-bedroom homes and 18 exclusive two bedroom apartments. Prices range from £110,000 for a one bedroom apartment to £184,950 for a three bedroom house.

Mill Court is situated just off Old Mill Lane with direct access into the centre of Barnsley, and the A61 and M1.

For more information on the homes available at Mill Court visit the sales office on Canal Street, open seven days a week from 10.00am until 5.00pm. Alternatively telephone 01226 785924.
