Children at Woodville Church of England primary school in have been getting into the seasonal spirit, as year three competed in pairs to win first prize in Easter hard hat competition in association with Bloor Homes.
Budding artists Emily Eley and Pheobe Hodgkins won first prize in the competition for a colourful design that combined the symbols of Easter and the flowers of spring, along with sparkling patterns that captured the mood of celebration. Meanwhile rising talents Chloe Spare and Jessica Bailey were awarded the runner up prize for exceptional creativity and attention to detail. After a prize ceremony for the winners, the children celebrated their hard work with a special presentation of certificates and Cadbury’s mini eggs.
Bloor Homes joined with the primary school through their nearby development The Hollies, which offers a range of luxury family homes.
Marjorie Gregory, sales and marketing director at Bloor Homes, said: “At Bloor, we speak to a lot of local parents who visit us at The Hollies. We were aware that the holidays are approaching and children are buzzing with excitement at the prospect of chocolate and time off school, so we thought it would be a great time to give them a creative outlet for all that energy.
“Having strong schools in the local area is essential to the success of family houses and this competition gave us a chance to really invest in the local community. Woodville is a regenerating area with a rising status, so education and quality homes will be essential to securing its future. It also confirmed our opinion of the high standards at Woodville primary school and proved that we can be proud to tell our buyers that their home will be within its catchment area.
“Judging the competition proved to be harder than I imagined, not only because I was presented with thirty fantastic hats that were all so imaginative in their own way, but also because of the passion that the children put into the competition. Who knows, with this much creativity flowing, we may have glimpsed the upcoming architects or interior designers that will create the homes of the future.”
The Hollies is a select development of 56 homes and apartments set on the peaceful Moira Road. 14 three and four bedroom family homes are currently available, with prices starting from £159,950 for a three bedroom design and from £212,000 for a four bedroom property with en suite and garage.
Miss G Bladon, teacher at Woodville primary school said: “The children had great fun designing Easter bonnets from the hard hats and generous range of arts materials provided. It gave them an opportunity for creativity and partner work as well as raising awareness of safety on construction sites. The seasonal theme of the event really tapped in to the children’s feelings of excitement in the run up to Easter and the certificates will be a lasting reminder of a lovely day.”
