Children at Burton Road primary school in Barnsley have been getting into the seasonal spirit with an Easter hard hat competition in association with Bloor Homes.

Among the many exceptional designs from the three and four year old children of Foundation 1 was the work of budding artists Summer Wells, George Conway and Robyn Crowther, whose hats were crowned with brightly coloured features, chicks and flowers, capturing the fun feelings of Easter.

After a prize ceremony for the winners, the children celebrated their hard work with a special presentation of certificates and Cadbury’s mini eggs.

Bloor Homes joined with the primary school through their nearby development Mill Court, which offers a range of luxury family homes.

Marjorie Gregory, sales and marketing director at Bloor Homes, said: “At Bloor, we speak to a lot of local parents who visit us at Mill Court.  We were aware that the holidays are approaching and children are buzzing with excitement at the prospect of chocolate and time off school, so we thought it would be a great time to give them a creative outlet for all that energy.

“Having strong schools nearby is essential to the success of family houses and this competition gave us a chance to really invest in the local area. Barnsley is an established residential area known for its friendly community. Understandably, it attracts many families, so providing strong education and quality homes will be essential to build upon its popular reputation. The competition confirmed our opinion of the high standards at Burton Road primary school and proved that we can be proud to tell our buyers that their home will be within its catchment area.

“Judging the competition proved to be harder than I imagined, not only because I was presented with thirty fantastic hats that were all so imaginative in their own way, but also because of the passion that the children put into the competition. Who knows, with this much creativity flowing, we may have glimpsed the upcoming architects or interior designers that will create the homes of the future.”

Mill Court is a select development located off Honeywell Street, near Barnsley town centre, and has been designed with young families in mind. A selection of three bedroom homes is still available on the popular site, with prices staring from £148,950. Mill Court also offers a range of two bedroom apartments starting at £110,000.

Hannah Schofield from Burton Road primary school said: “The children had a great time designing their Easter hard hats and really enjoyed the chance to express their creativity. It gave them an opportunity to learn while having fun and tapped in to their feelings of excitement in the run up to Easter. The certificates and photographs will also be a lasting reminder of a lovely day.”
